Now, Google has announced that it will be shutting down Google Video and that all previous uploaded content will be removed. Google is pushing users to move their content to YouTube.com, which Google owns. The deadline to remove your content from Google Video is April 29th 2011. Lots of motion graphic designers have uploaded their work to Google Video. It is a shame that Google has not created an automatic process to transfer videos over to YouTube so that users can preserve their “views” and “stats”. Youtube was largely abandoned by the motion graphics community, due to the quality and lack of HD playback and users started migrating to Viemo.com by the thousands. Youtube’s quality has increased over the years and it starting to present itself as viable competitor to Vimeo in the motion graphics community once again.
